Song was playing while I was put on hold.
It sounds like an old song but could have been made to sound that way. Sounds like a man with an Italian accent singing in English but half speaking kind of, its a very sad song but medium paced, not slow.
Parts of chorus bit sounds like "I'm ready" where it starts of high pitched then lowers pitch towards end and then carries on with a story telling way of singing, like:

I'M REAdy
On to something something

But those aren't the words. I've never heard this song in any mainstream media and it's not something like a usual song. It's quite sad sounding. It's driving me bonkers more »
