Rainn Byrns

Growing up between a suburban air force town in Texas and the English commuter-ville of Swindon, Rainn Byrns now resides in South London, huddled amongst tape machines in his home studio. Time spent stateside informed an early penchant for Americana, and the prevalence of lo-fi and DIY culture during his formative years still bleed into his own writing and production. Backed by his band of trusted droogs The Byrnouts, Rainn's crappy-go-lucky interpretation of the world around him is equal parts earnest and irreverent - a balance of youthful ennui and an impulse to make light of it. With support from The Line Of Best Fit, DIY Mag, Dork, So, Young, Hard of Hearing and Yuck Magazine on the press front, plus Radio X's John Kennedy, BBC 6Music's Steve Lamacq & Amazing Radio supporting on the airwaves, Rainn and his band have played shows with The Beths, Buzzard, Buzzard, Buzzard and Francis Lung to name a few. Following the release of his Country Living EP, Rainn released his debut album New In Town - a future indie classic, jam-packed with melodies and Rainn’s on the nose lyrical delivery, written from the heart with total honesty, even if it’s a bit ugly sometimes, catching a mood that can be full of sadness but equally hopeful.

New In Town
No familiar faces around
So could someone show me the ropes
Pretty please?
Ain’t got no clue
No familiar point of view
And my memories of the past are slowly fading away

Rainn, you will see
You will come to know me
Put your feet onto my sidewalk and I’ll show you the way
Picture me in summer
Or winter what a bummer
You’ll always come crawling Back to me

New in town
It’s safe to say that I’m overwhelmed
Run away back to the country
Where the streets still know my name
You could say
Fear not boy you’ll find a way
And I know that deep down
Things may never be the same

You sold me a dream
And boy I bought it
Young and naive who would’ve thought I was the one to believe
And I’m going down
Those pasts best left unfound
And I’m getting the feeling that I will be the one going downtown

I’m going down
I’m going down
I’m going down
I’m going down
