I'm way out of her league, way out of the running
So far out of her league --it's not funny
The bar set so high, all I see is sky above
Nothing to grab onto, that's the sad truth
about our love

I'm way out of her league, way out of contention
It's hard to believe, she even mentions my name
to friends
Guess it depends on what she might say
Maybe she holds me up to ridicule, regarding me 
as some foolish guy who hardly stands a chance

Being so far out of her league --way out in outer space
You'd think I would seek, someone who also 
knows her place --is here with me
Maybe has come face to face with a situation like mine, tasted defeat, trying to drink such heady wine

Realizes she's in a league of her own, doesn't need 
any tossed bones
Knows she's just as good as everyone else
That's the kind of lady I need to find
Who when she talks about me to her friends
has a lovelight in her eyes
That's the kind of league, I need to play in
