I don't get the whole deal about the Jonas Brothers. Personally, I think they suck!

At the end of it all, every artist has their own purpose and meaning, no matter what genre they are. That's why personally, I like a wide range of artists, because I consider the purpose of the music when deciding whether I like it or not. So I like both rock and pop, only for different reasons.
Going back to the original topic of this thread, as strange as it sounds, I don't mind the Jonas Brothers. Because they can be quite lame, they make me laugh. That's why I don't mind them. Their voices are whiney and their lyrics aren't great either. Personally, I think they're more for show than for music.
The word 'pop' is also a very general term. Music that fits into the pop genre is very diverse, and so the sound of pop songs can vary dramatically. That means I can't really say I don't like pop.

Pop music has so much meanning to it in my opinion ,I know that some of u don't like it but have u ever really stoped to listen and take in some things about it . well if you haven't u really should its one of the best gonras and relstes to lifes feelings and problems. I say this because I am a Country/Pop singer and i also write music of the sort. 'Pop' is just short for popular music.

While this doesn't necessarily dictate any particular style of sound, it has come to be associated with a few styles of sound (though it's not technically limited to said boundaries).

For instance, in the '40s, Sinatra would be considered pop music.
When rock came around in the '50s, multiple styles of rock and r'n'b-based pop came around.
In the '60s, artists like The Beatles engineered psychedelic pop, and folk-pop.
In the '70s, hard rock became popular, and thus associated with pop to some degree, and in the late '70s Disco came around.
In the '80s, you had New Wave, hip-hop, and glam metal, all of which were forms of popular music at that point.

And it goes on and on, really.

A few loose rules to the genre (and these aren't always used) are employment of an upbeat tone, verse/chorus/verse format, and a danceable beat.

Anyway, the Jonas Brothers and Co. are hardly representative of the entire spectrum, let alone prime meat out of pop.

I dont liek the jonas brothers either... they all look gay to me... sorry if i make anyone mad but that is my opinion.
